I looked down on the clouds and I noticed Everything was in reverse What I saw was What I was What I saw was Eyesore And so the depth down shows me the height up The X sounds And the Y stops I’ve been playing a game of hide and seek In the silence and the stealth I’ve spilled and poured out flames I went blind in the sky As looked back upon my... My own Brocken Spectre No more ego No more tyrants No more darkness No more sirens No more monsters No more torture No more haunting Nevermore No more tearing No more aching No more flaring No more breakdown No more suffering No more torment No more despair Nevermore No more sickness No more sadness No more itching No more madness No more scratching No more panic No more fire Nevermore

Chase the heart, chase the art, forego the wealth I’m chasing the walls, powering myself Spent a little too much time gathering Spent a little too much time up here on the shelf The same old rope, the same old hope I cut you off my arm Safe for all these years Stop watch timer The second start, another part, improve your health I’m pacing the halls like nothing else Spent a little too much time martyring Spent a little too much time spending everything else The same old boat, the same old moat I’m buying all your charms I’m swimming in your ears Stop watch timer The same old rope, the same old hope I cut you off my arm Safe for all these years

All the Ts and the Rs and the As and the Cs and the Ks line up All the Ts and the Rs and the As and the Cs and the Ks line up All the tracks line up All the tracks line up Scuff your knees if you please in your new pair of jeans Pull your pants right up Now the Ts and the Rs and the As and the Cs and the Ks stand up All your tracks stand up All your tracks stand up Pay the fees to the bees Lead the mice to the cheese Set your trap right up Now the Ts and the Rs and the As and the Cs and the Ks set up Now your trap’s set up Now your trap’s set up To never see where are you are in a haze through the trees Well, your days pile up Now the Ts and the Rs and the As and the Cs and the Ks pile up All your tracks pile up All your tracks add up All your boys light up All your tracks line up

It wasn’t always like this I’d set it up and not back out Though inside out the map is I know this plan without a doubt I’m the one you see on the other side of the firelight The one inside who tells you who to be The one inside the fires that feed your starving skies The one inside you screaming She had guitars for earrings A pentagram around her neck She conjured up demons for diamond rings And with the drum beat heart they answered back... We’re the ones you see on the other side of the firelight The ones inside who tell you who to be The ones inside the fires that feed your starving skies The ones inside you fleeing

Does it make you feel better? Does it make you feel further away? From the questions to the answers? Spawned from doubt you’ll have one day? Does it make you lose your temper? Do you scream and shout about your way? Did those long nights tan your leather? When you headed north along your way? When you headed north along your way? Does any of it keep you together? Now you’ve led yourself further astray? Have the searchlights scored your feathers? Now you’ve headed north along your way? Now you’ve headed north along your way?

Now these reasons will rhyme, smell the thyme This season’s growing fine You came alive in that dress When you tripped and caught it on the fence You said let’s sew it up I say let’s live in the present tense I’m not even here And this hasn’t even happened yet Asleep outside alive, we leave our eyes in Then the sun flood in Then the sun flood in You held your dress up above your chin Through the rip I’m in The rip I’m in The floods might come but we’ll seal ourselves in We’ll seal ourselves in Sandbag ourselves in Asleep outside Our eyes are burning in the sun Your dress is ripping as we’re turning And the floods have come The start is looking to begin The fence, the time The thread we’re sewing Present tense, your eyes deny it’s happening And the floods have come The start is looking to begin Asleep outside alive we leave our eyes in Then the sun flood in The sun flood in You held your dress up above your chin And through the rip I’m in The rip I’m in

It is by will alone I set my mind in motion It’s a thing, it is a notion It’s good enough for me With this in mind I’ve grown Immune to near all potion Yet dazed and in slow motion Too still and blurred to see The focus I have known is now a thing I don’t want to locate Unwelcome swelling notions aren’t good enough for me Thoughts acquire speed Lips acquire stains The stains become a warning Arise to me each morning With drink and blood I’ve grown This dry hide begs for lotion This train, this low commotion Bleeds faster past my street

Air There 04:44
I thought I’d seen it all Critics have made some claims I’m a weary soldier’s war In a city’s streets and lanes We’re such a striking cast Have you seen the battle blast? There’s not much we can’t handle But where there’s air there’s strangle Family tree is blown from glass Your family tree is blown from glass I thought I’d heard it all Critics have made some claims With bouquets new fangled Our lives entangle You say you’ve changed and I say “my arse” Family tree blown from glass Your family tree is blown from glass

Nobody knows about Hobo Joe And nobody knows all the places you’d like to visit All this talk about our imaginary secrets Pharaoh prescriptions for a pyramid scheme A version of future no one could ever have seen There are so many things that you can be And so many things that no one ever need revisit The chalk in the water Or the rivers that need it Weather predicitions or a rising sea A Persian rug or a flying machine Time and these lines and what defines me Restriction and roomspace depend on how you use it You could swap your watch for scotch in a cold minute Build a rocket from odd socks in an afternoon dream Or a be a thing you thought no one could ever have been

about

“Sometimes you stumble onto an album with zero preconceptions or expectations, and it knocks you flat. If you’ve read that first sentence, it’s already too late to experience Saul Jarvie’s Existential Eczema with a clean slate, so let’s muddy it up some more: the Melbourne songwriter used to front Rival Flight, a band leaning towards post-rock that shared the stage with such late-’90s luminaries as June of 44, Trans Am, Arab Strap and The Spinnanes’ Rebecca Gates. Since then he’s released a 7” as Microflora and worked away on an ambient record. He also successfully crowdfunded an 180gm vinyl release for Existential Eczema, an album that features cameos from Heinz Riegler, Seja, Mirko Vogel (Sekiden), Lucy Roleff, Mark Monnone (The Lucksmiths, Monnone Alone), Sez Wilks (Kikuyu), Peter Joseph Head (Actor Buddhists) and many other familiar friends. So, after that sprawling preamble, what’s it sound like? Moody and brooding, with bone-scraping nods to the Jason Loewenstein side of Sebadoh as well as whiffs of Smog, Sunset Rubdown and other dark horses of indie rock. Start with ‘Tracks Line Up’ if you’re after Jarvie’s poppier potential, and from there the single ‘The Heart, The Art, The Wealth’. But honestly, it’s best to start at the start and just work your way through. The album’s much-delayed vinyl pressing will be available soon here, and although Jarvie doesn’t have plans to launch it at the moment (due to personal health issues), he’s someone you’ll want to keep track of from now on”.
